Caesarstone install question concerning edge

I'm planning on getting a Caesarstone countertop and figuring out the thickness and edging; one possibility is getting 2cm thick slabs and doing a laminated edge. A couple of questions: 1) If it's a mitered edge, can I choose the thickness, i.e. how thick the countertop will appear? And 2) can I still have a minimal overhang? Not sure if that's the right terminology, but I like the modern look with the countertop almost flush with the cabinetry, and only about 1/4 inch out. Presumably, in this case, the sub-board would have to stop short of the edge of the cabinetry to provide some space for part of the mitered edge to sit??? Just wondering how that would work, and if it would work. Thx.
