Try an all basket theme..remove all the bits and pieces..use thin trya baskets, bowls baskets

I also suggest matching the baskets to the console. It will look more cohesive.

It's a TV stand. Use it; don't look at it.

Seriously. It's designed to house the support equipment for the TV--cable box, game box, VHS recor… ummm...DVD player, etc. It's not for being all designer-y.

The stuff that should sit neatly in it seem to be gathering dust on the top, crammed behind the TV instead of being tucked neatly inside (with their wires concealed).

I would put the 3 items on the top right on a small white square tray/plate, move the setup on the left to the bottom center and instead put a rectangle 5x7 framed photo with a small accent piece next to it, such as one of the pieces from the bowl.

I agree with books on the right -- but really part of the problem is, as said above, that the console is not wide enough for the TV, so it will always look out of balance.

i would remove the set of DVDs. The display has a nice flow but the DVDs can be stored in the baskets and continue doing what you did in the other spaces with something simple and light. Maybe a word sculpture (Home, love, calm, relax.... whatever you want that space to be.)

Too much stuff in the cabinet. Less is more. The baskets are fine but it looks like you are trying to cram something into every space. Keep in simple. Remove the DVD's. Try placing just one object in each of the three spaces on the top. There should be some sort of connection between all three items though. For instance, if they are pieces of pottery then they should all have a similar form or colour. I would move the bowl that it is in the middle to the bottom shelf and just leave that shelf open. Also, try removing everything and then placing one item at a time. You may get a better sense of when to stop adding. Good luck!

Agree with darker baskets and simplifying. The console should be 25% wider than the TV.

Want the best solution? List that on Craigs .......buy a longer more up to date console with doors and better scaled to the TV.. Call an electrician, mount the tv on the wall. There ya go. Seems you have a 60 inch console under a 55 inch TV........ go to nothing less than 78 inches or "watch smaller" : )

I like, maybe you liked the texture of the baskets, with plain wood and carpeting.
