What do they say the source is? Can you go back to the store and ask?

OK. I looked up Lumegen on the web. This unit is designed to be dimmed from a 0-10V dimmer (low voltage). A standard dimmer will NOT work.

I don't suggest you plug this into a socket controlled by a standard dimmer, LED or otherwise.

If you want this to be dimmable, you'll have to buy one of their dimmers and run the wires yourself.

Return it and get a normal light.

You could try connecting just the power wires, capping the dimmer wires with wirenuts, and see if it lights up. If you're lucky, it'll default to full brightness with no dimmer connected.

If I were you, I'd do such a test with a cord and plug, before trying to install it. I like to do these tests through a plug strip that has its own switch and circuit breaker.

If you then try dimming it with an external dimmer, it might not work right, or might even let its magic smoke out. Would it be ethical to return it as "defective" after that? I'll leave that up to you and that little guy sitting on your shoulder.
