This is the kitchen to our new house. The sellers put in the floor and the new countertop but left the dated cabinets. We're buy all new appliances (stainless with black accents) and now are looking to update the rest of the look.

Since we are somewhat cashed strapped at this moment due to the purchase. What low cost, DIY, type of updates should we do before we move in at the end of July?

I have been thinking of painting the cabinets and new lights. But I'm not sure what color would be good for the paint, or how much time/cost would the painting be. For the lights, is it easy to add can lighting myself or should I go for some track lighting for now?
