book shelf is temporary storage while we have a room painted. it is not usually there. the AC stays during the summer...

A long narrow table with a bench and 4 chairs. For everyday use, push the table against the wall with 2 of the chairs on the wall side slide bench under center of room side and pull out for use.

I like the idea of a narrow table with a bench on one side, but I would reverse it and put the bench on the side the gets the most traffic. It will be easy to tuck in out of the way when not in use. I would also just go ahead and center the table. It’ll look better and you’ll still get around. There seems to be a bit of a cottage vibe? Do you have any thoughts about color? Right now you could do just about anything.

You definitely will need to get something quite skinny. A long rectangular table will probably be best. Perhaps something like one of these?

A bench on the longest wall with a trestle table and chairs on the outside. Relocate the light fixture to center over the table.
