The brown will remain brown. But new growth on the surrounding foliage may fill in and disguise the dead area if not too large.

Hosing down the foliage regularly with a strong stream of water may help. Spider mites really dislike dampness and humidity and the spraying of water deep into the foliage will create a humid environment they will avoid. And the water will also wash a lot of them away.

Well...the "dead area" is pretty large...as in a substantial portion of the entire tree (I think of it as a tree anyway). So whatever is going on won't kill it? Any spray suggested? I've often used sevin for various sorts of critters.

As gardengal said, a spray of water is very effective for mites which love Albertas.

they said it all ..... just blast them with water ... full power from the pistol grip.. you have nothing to lose ....

do note.. its possible.. that if there are still buds at the tips.. that it might reflush ... in other words.. if it lost last years needles .... it might fill back in ....

these are cheap plants .... dont spend more money treating them.. than they are worth ...

Yes, every week to 10 days if it is a dry spell.
