Stephen, do you have some type of leaf-rolling pest? Hard to see in the photos but with the webbing and some leaves ‘curled’ shut that’s sort of what it looks like.

FWIW if these plants are comparatively newly installed and haven't flowered before the insect infestation may have little or nothing to do with flowers not being seen yet.

if they were recently planted.. i would be talking to my seller about why he sold deficient stock ... and if he was obnoxious about it.. i might be contacting the local Ag office about selling diseased or bug infested stock ...

if so.. definitely try honey first ....

and you might want to add some background info .... so we can discuss whether there are other variables which might be an issue....

i really dont know how they do it.. but bugs and disease FIND stressed plants ... and whether or not you fix the bug/disease issue.. doesnt really matter.. if you dont fix the original stresses ...

Bill and Indianagardengirl, your posts made me search for leaf-rolling pests and diseases that might cause leaf roll in pomegranates. I found out that it's likely caused by two species of thrips (Scirtothrips dorsalis and Rhipiphorothrips cruentatus).

Ken and Embothrium, great point! I have a row of 3 different pomegranates (Parfianka, Sweet, and Syunt). This is their 2nd season. One of them has flowered before, the other two have not. I don't remember them having this type of problem before, but they're all from different nurseries (2 local and 1 mail order).

Assuming that I'm dealing with thrips, I'm thinking of using Monterey Insect Spray with Spinosad. Do you guys have experience using this on your trees?
