Tropical Fruits Bananas

Banana flowers emerging

Fairly ordinary really, but I'm quite pleased. We had an outbreak of Banana Freckle a few years back. None of mine were infected but the government decreed all banana plants in the area were to be destroyed. So they came around and "executed" mine with glyphosate. The banana Freckle can't survive without bananas so it was for 2 years that no bananas could be planted. Finally mid July last year (3 years later) I was able to get this as a small pup in a pot and after a couple of months put it in the ground. It took off and now 9 months later I'm starting to get my own bananas again.

That's a good looking banana. You should try and post a picture of the flower open.

Thanks TheyCallYouDave. It's a DPM25, a Cavendish variety that's supposed to be resistant to some of the pathogens that get into bananas. It's also supposed to taste good as well. For size it's about medium, bit too big for what I'd call a dwarf, and definitely not a tall. I planned to post photos as it developed but it's winter here now so it might be slower than usual.

Thought this would be good to put in near the start, mid October 2017 when I planted it in the ground. It had been in that same pot from July 2017, when I bought it.
