I really like what you have in the room so far. Can you post a photo of the rest of the room? What's the wall from the foot of the bed/left to widow look like? Is the window centered on the wall and is that all the wider the window is?

Do you have a dresser or nightstand already? Looking again I see there's a table to the left of the bed. In my kids rooms I paid attention to where I thought the bed and dresser would fit best. I also tried to think of how the room may evolve in the years to come (desk).

I know you didn't ask this but I really like the yellow green color in the bedding and think it would look nice to repeat in maybe a painted night stand or a lamp. Possibly even artwork. If you don't have a nightstand yet I think it's nice if you can get one with drawers or baskets for extra storage. We've found that quite handy.

Please post photos and more info. if you can. :)

I was thinking of getting white and yellow artwork with some green highlights. The room will be more of sleep and a little play. i also intend to get a dresser and maybe just maybe a teepee tent.

What is he crazy about? Dinosaurs or big trucks or Disney? At this age, you can put up inexpensive decals and not make a big investment, and then change it next year or so. I like the colors and bedspread.

@sushipup he is crazy about dinosaurs, spider man and PJ masks.

I prefer the headboard against the wall better. Maybe move the table & chairs next to window, it looks too small where it is. You can move the bed away from the window if need more room.

Love the paint. For my sons they spend a lot of time playing in their rooms. If that is the same for your son I would put the bed on the opposite wall of the window. That will leave for more play space. Have you thought about doing chalk paint on part of the wall with the boarder trimmed?

the opposite wall from the window is th door. so placing the bed on that opposite side i feel hs no privacy(not sure why im thinking of privacy for a 2yr old lol).Let me switch it up and see how it looks

Lol I understand and I always think of function not what looks the best for kiddos.

What if you put the bed in the corner with the headboard against the wall with the door?

And I hear you. My DD's room has the same set up pretty much. Right now I have her bed against the window, but with the side of the bed along that wall, not the head. Like your current arrangement, only pushed against the window. She actually likes being able to peak out the window and still be in bed. I'll draw a sketch and show you, maybe it will help with ideas.

Like this basically. Not to scale haha.
She’s got a twin but your full may work.

this is the set up of the room

For me, I felt it was best to keep the middle of her room open for a play area.

Is there a dresser or anything else in there besides the bed and little table/chair?

If not, try arranging the bed similar to mine, move the table/chair to the wall next to the closet, and then have something in that lower right corner. I big chair, beanbag, tent, play mat, whatever he likes! That could be a big area for him to play in. How old is he? You could have a lego station, or a car track or anything really.

So far haven't gotten dresser and don't plan to get one at lest for now. i will re arrange and share progress

Any suggestions on window treatment color? was thunking white but doubting myself again
  • 8 years ago
White could work, but maybe you could find something that incorporated that chartreuse color.
Do you have any ideas or themes you’re looking towards?
I was thinking about that geometrical bedding. It reminds me of a rubix cube or tangram. Maybe you could use something along those lines to decorate the walls.
Off the top of my head I’m thinking either framing or gluing some tangrams together to hang. Maybe a poster print from a rubix contest. I’ve also seen framing game boards or the box covers.
That could expand your color options too.

    Tangrams

thanks for the ideas. My goal is to have more of a neutrl base as far as window treatment's since I will change his duvet at least every so often (4wks) and dont want the hustle of alwy changing curtains. His other favorite is Spiderman so he has that.
You change out the duvet?! :o
That sounds like a lot of work. I can barely change the sheets lol

If you’re trying to keep everything else neutral, then I probably would keep my curtains and walls white too.

hahahahahaha there are times he will only sleep in his room when he has spiderman duvet on the bed.I
