Its pretty standard. You could try to put the seam under the bed. Depending on your room size and carpet width, maybe buying more carpet would eliminate the need for a seam. It doesn't look like a workmanship issue from here.

definitely have them back to fix it. A seam may be ineveitable, but, they need to fix it so the carpet nap is laying the same way.

That is not right and I can't believe any professional would put in that layout. I would prefer to have more seams than have the carpet quarter turned in the room. Turning the material in the closet is quite common and not visible behind a closed door. Ask for a correction and if they refuse, ask them for a discount

What is most bothersome to me is that this install was not from a big box store. But rather from what I thought was a reputable flooring business.

Go to the owner of the flooring business. They need to know that the work they contract out is not satisfactory and they can take it up with the installer. I know the family-owned business that I have used in my home subcontracts out the work. They would be appalled at the quality and would want to make it right.

I think the carpet was laid with the nap going in the opposite direction from one piece to the other . This can be fixed by truning one piece in the other direction That should be done and insist on it .

The carpet should be removed and laid properly.

That said, very often there will be a lot of wasted carpet if there isn't a seam 90 degrees off somewhere, and it's a common, reasonable and sensible way to save money for both you and the installer.

That said, you should have been warned that this was going to happen and, since you were not, you have every right to insist that it be corrected.

Carpet seams are supposed to be inconspicuous, not invisible. That one certainly fits the bill.

UPDATE: This carpet is manufactured by Karastan. And I have found other posts on Houzz that reference this same exact issue. A guy from the Aggieland CarpetOne store (where we purchases the carpet) came to our house over a week and a half ago. We are supposedly STILL awaiting an answer from the Karastan manufacturer. However, I am inclined to believe that the problem lies more with the inefficiency and POOR customer service of of the Aggieland CarpetOne Store "representative" dragging his feet.

Tracy, carpet comes off the bolt at certain sizes. If you room is larger, for instance, carpet comes off at 13’ and your room is 14 x 14’ or larger, you will have seams.

Yes, we did get this issue resolved. They determined that it was a color match issue or a defect issue with the Karastan carpet. So Aggieland CarpetOne replaced all of the carpet.
