I have a single rose seed, out of all the ones I stratified, that managed to germinate. I planted it in a tray with some other ”project” seedlings, but I‘m worried about it being able to survive. I really don’t want to let it die because it came from a very special place that I will never be able to visit again, and I don’t really care whether or not it looks like its parent—I just want it the way it is.

For most of my tree seedlings, I’ve used some mix of peat and potting soil which they’ve done well in, and so planted my rose seed in that same medium. Since I haven’t done much with roses before, one of my questions is Should I try to carefully remove it from that medium and give it a different mix to grow in?

Also, I’m not sure how much light to give it at this stage. I’ve been growing it indoors in front of an upstairs window, but with an overhang outside I don’t know whether or not its too dark. I wish I could move it outside on the north side but with temperatures in the mid-90s, would it be too much shock for it?
