Ductless Mini Split

I had one installed by a large HVAC company in NJ. They charged me $3400.00 for the unit which I could have bough for 1058.00 on the net but with no one warranting it. Since several of my friends work there I got the family rate to install it which was $800.00. It took 2 guys three and a half hours to install. The second season the fan motor went and am waiting for a replacement to come in.

What's your point? You paid $4,200 total? About 5 years ago, I had seven installed (7 in three out) for between 3 and 4 times that. Did you get competitive bids? Maybe you should reconsider your approach to finding contractors

I think what he's saying is that he got the install for $800 but paid 2600 for something that is available on the internet for $1058.

FYI, Mitsubishi has a minisplit system for DIY install now that comes with the full warranty and starts at $1500.
