What trim colors to use for this house?

I’m having trouble envisioning what colors to paint the house. You can see the brick is peachy, green, white and charcoal. Under the arches is all peach. House is from 1970.

    Anyone?

Hi Elizabeth - I have to admit I don’t like the peach! Which of the garage doors do you like the most? Are you planning on changing one, or painting them to match? That would give a sense of the aesthetic you prefer.

Sorry! I should have put that in my original comment. We had to get a new garage door and so the cream one is new! I detest all of the peach and salmon paint. We haven’t re-painted since we moved in!

I was hoping to paint the salmon garage door to match the cream door.

Paint the trim the color of the new cream garage door. Above the garage, paint the vertical trim and wall the same color.

Cream on garage door. Can you rip out the overgrown shrubbery and replant? Low and linear- boxwood in a light lime green closer to house, maybe mini barberry in front for pop of color. Chance to rip out those stones under arches and replace with cement to create a seating/entry area? Are the brick arches structural or merely ornamentation? Colors, which is what you asked about, maybe lime wash brick and a dusty blue. Just my thoughts.

A darker green to match the brick with cream trim would look good.

I hadn’t considered limewashing. That’s an interesting thought. Unfortunately the arches are structural. I agree that the landscaping needs major overhaul. What kind of seating area did you envision under the arches? Any photos would be so helpful.

A wash would maintain the brick look without painting and will lighten the color if the salmon-like brick color isn't to your taste. Hhhmm, was afraid the brick was structural. I didn't have a particular seating style in mind, the architecture may lend itself to wicker or some woven type. My thought was you have cement and brick, the stones add a 3rd element, get rid of them, tie the area more to the entry and make use of it. I love to sit out front of my house, my front gardens are English country, fluffy-smell good plants that hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators love. watching the birds and bees make me happy.

A gray with some brown overtones would work with the brick, highlighting that color and minimizing the peach tones and wouldn't clash with the shingles either. Landscaping needs to be addressed as some of it is overgrown and is hiding the house.

Looks like you don't get any use of that "porch," and the door is way too recessed to be seen as the feature it should be. Consider budgeting for an expansion into that area for more living space and a more inviting entry. Other items to budget for are a matching garage door and new siding above them.

Gray with the brownish tones as Creative Visual Concepts said. Reason: grayish brown will link the roof and the brick. But try it out first. Yes, work on landscaping to open up your façade. It's a nice house.

Hi, here’s an example of the grayish brown that has been suggested. I agree with jerseygirl’s suggestion to remove the flagstone by the entry and have concrete poured to make a nice seating area (too many different materials the way it is now). Possibly a Mediterranean style bench?

Since garage doors are so large, painting them a light color causes them to attract a lot of attention or even dominate the house. The picture that Laura just posted shows the garage door a more subdued color so the brick and arcs are more of the focal point vs. the garage doors. BTW are there other houses in your neighborhood made from the same color brick? That might give you a sense of what you like and don’t like.

You all are so helpful! Thank you! Do you think the grey brown paint could be done with a cream accent or should it just be solid grey-brown? What color should the post in between the garages be?

Some examples of houses with the terra cotta colored roofs. I think your perfect color will be a lighter tone of the gray brown bricks.

I would stay away from the cream and do just the gray/brown (taupe). The post between the garage doors should be the same color as the doors. You don't want to draw attention to it or the doors.
