A number of companies will fabricate and install. I think this is a good way to go.

One thing to think about when building your cellar is the types of finishes that you use. Some wine enthusiasts are concerned that VOCs can affect the taste of the wine. If you are doing wine-tasting in your wine cellar, other aromas will affect your taste perception as well. This is why many of these companies do not put finishes on their wine racks.

Thank you for your reply. I had not thoght of the VOC's at all! We are leaning about leaving the wood unfinished. We are thinking of going with mahogany rather than redwood, don't know if the mahogany will look unfinished. ?We are currently looking at a fabricator in either NH or Vermont and wanted to get a quote from another company. Thanks.

Now you have good reason to leave the wood unfinished :)

For our home, we cut up pvc pipe in 2-bottle lengths, stacked them up, and with a wood strip at the bottom, the bottles are all at an angle. And it is all behind a closet door in our basement where we don't need to worry about temperature or humidity control.
