I would flank the fireplace with identicle end tables

I like that idea. But they will be angled if against the walls of windows since the room is octagon shaped. Or would you just not set the tables against the wall?

I'd put a wing chair or other style comfortable chair on each side of the fireplace in a fabric that includes some burgundy from the rug & some of the blue in the drapes. You need some femininity in this room, so I'd got for a large bird print, floral etc. Be sure the pattern is large enough. Move the side table b/t the sofa & loveseat where it can be of use. Is that a fake plant peaking out of it? You know the answer if it is.....

I think you have space to do an ottoman on the right side chair if you wish. You need to get a proper coffee table - your ottomon is too small to serve that purpose. I think a taller, round one would be nice. Maybe even an acrylic one to give your room some zip.

If you must keep the bookcase for storage, move it in front of the left window (yes, it will be behind the new chair).
move existing ottomon where bookcase is now to have on hand to pull in for additional seating.

If your TV space is drywall, you could have a carpenter narrow the space to fit your furniture & add cabinets or shelve above (lighted) for display. That would seriously up the vibe here.

I like your art, but it doesn't belong with the rug. If you like the art, get another rug & scrap everything I said about burgundy. Maybe you can use in another room. Same for A&M throw - does your ottomon have storage where it could be stashed when not in use? .

Throw pillows on the loveseat look tired. I'd add some in a pattern (not striped) with blue & burgundy. Remove couch throw pillow nearest TV - it is too white.

How about a chaise where the dog is with reading floor lamp beside it. Take tree from tv and put at opposite window. Get a large rectangular cocktail table. Accent color in tv niche.

Ok, made a few quick changes (see attached pics), but now I'm on the hunt for a nice, patterned wingback chair and ottoman, a cocktail/coffee table, and all new throw pillows. Any advice on where to get this stuff? I am having he hardest time finding anything good. Would a wicker wingback with patterned cushions look good or no?

I really doubt I paint the TV niche. I feel it will make the room too dark and obviously I tried to throw white in there (pic, pillows) and it doesn't work. So are there any other ideas for things I can do with the niche?
