I've had good results bagging. This is my experience with boxwood and other shrubs:

Make sure the growing medium is moist, you don't want it too wet or it'll rot. I usually open my cuttings up daily, give them a misting with water, and let em breath for an 30 min to an hour then cover again, but it's not really that necessary.

If you uncover for too long or don't cover to maintain humidity they'll dry up because they will lose water from the leaves which cannot be replenished because there are no roots, which is more likely to kill them than any fungus at this point.

At this point biggest concerns are dessication (losing all water from the leaves) or rot in the case soil is too wet or soil is not very sterile.

Gotcha!! It seems like a good amount of condensation in there, and the cups feel a good weight because I did water the soil very well before putting the cuttings in there. Thank yo so much!

SO, here is an update... by the time that fall came none of this had roots in them, one of them maybe wanted to but failed to survived. << sight >>

Disappointing that none made it.

Cuttings are pretty sensitive in the rooting stage when it comes to to much water, to little water, too hot it bakes, too cool it doesn't root., sometimes the timing isn't right, and sometimes bad luck.

Do you plan on trying again this year?

You could try using rooting hormone this time which can improve your chances.

You could also try taking a few batches at different times - some of them a bit earlier and some a bit later (late spring, early summer, late summer). I've had different plants that were taken too early and didn't root for some reason even though they looked good. I also had a different set of cuttings that were taken a month after a different batch that rooted and those ones didn't root.

I used rooting hormone, I’m thinking maybe the trimmings were too mature, I kept on seeing to cut fresh growth but it was in Sunmer when I did this... maybe I will try another, I don’t know
