How tall can a Knockout Rose tree grow?

I had a knockout rose tree in a pot and it lasted for four years. I think an abundance of rain caused it to rot. I want to replace it and wonder if I put it in the ground, how tall will it get? The one I am replacing has a 2-foot "trunk" and the flower growth is about 2-1/2 feet tall and wide (or what's left of the flowering part). In order for it to look good in my planting spot, it needs to be at least 4-1/2 feet high in total. I am in northeastern NC.
