Door stop - on baseboard, or back of door?

I have MDF baseboard trim, and solid core doors. Using the non spring stick style stops. Builder suggested mounting the door stop down low on the back of the door itself, instead of the usual location of behind the door on the baseboard trim. Said it allows you to move the stop so you can clean under it easier.

I do think the screw for the stop would hold better in the wood of the door than the MDF trim, but I am worried that it might take more knocks/hits from things if mounted on the door. Might also hit someone in the ankle when the door opens.

And would the stopper swinging into the MDF dent it over time?
