What about choosing the same yellow you've used in your pillows for the walls?
Congratulations on your new home! I love your furniture.... I watched a decorator show today that talked about putting floor lamps on tables for dimension, I thought that was interesting maybe for your corner table. It would have to be the right shape to work. I am not sure how comfortable you or hubby are with paintings of flowers here is an artist that does wonderful work and it my soften up the room and give you a variety of colors to work with in terms of accents. The art is by Lulie Wallace, I have a few of her pieces in my home and I love them!

Hummmmm, purple?! I like the idea, but im scared of the results lol hubby is more of a "plain" beige shades haha so im not sure if he will go with a green and purple walls lol
Im gonna get a sample color of the wasabi tomorrow and see if i like.
What shade of purple will go ok? A light purple or darker?
I would say lighter so it brightens up the room, since your couches are a darker color.

I understand how anxious you are about buying furniture right away, but don't ever let any furniture salespeople ( on commission) sweet talk you or pressure you into buying anything. They don't know you, your taste, the size of your room, etc. most decorators will suggest you don't buy a full set of furniture at once. You will find it is more fun and less expensive to take your time and browse stores, and the Internet to find bargains. You may surprise yourself and learn how to paint and wallpaper (if you don't already)! I do love the floral prints above with the purple and yellow. I would not, however paint your room purple, even though I do believe in painting small rooms dark colors but you have to seriously edit the furnishings and in this case, you just bought all this new furniture. You could have easily saved money and bought just a sofa and loveseat and found a table and coffee table at Goodwill. You will learn, dear girl. I am a 65 year old mother of 6 grown children and 8 grandchildren. I sent to school to be an interior designer but dropped out to get married, but never lost my passion. I have decorated all my friend's home, all my kid's homes (I wish they would stop moving...I just redid an apartment for my daughter for her 4th move...I'm talking sewing drapes, slipcovers, wallpapering, painting...I'm getting too old for this)! I always say to my kids "You have to have a plan and something that inspires you". That way, you don't end up making mistakes buying something you end up regretting. Better to wash those dirty walls this weekend and take your time thinking about the right color. I think a soft butter yellow would be perfect, but it's a tough color to pick. It can look good during the day, but look greenish yellow at night. CB2 makes huge paint samples, but they cost about $5. You could buy poster boards at Michaels and buy sample pots of Benjamin Moore paints and paint the boards. Do NOT rely on a tiny 1" paint chip. The color will intensify when you put it on 4 walls and dry darker than you think. Move the large paint sample around in the morning light, at noon, late afternoon, twilight, at night with your lamps on, etc., to see what the room will look like all day long. Well, I didn't mean to write a book but it is almost 5:00am and my horrendous insomnia and Houzz are best friends. Keep us updated and good luck.

How happy I am to see that there was only one post mentioning grey! Seating looks comfortable. I would take one of the pillows and go rug shopping first. Your life will be much easier. When you find a rug you like and that harmonizes with the pillow then you can choose one of the colors that is found in both. The sofas you have will go with almost anything you choose. The room appears rather small with not too much light so the color for the walls does not have to be the same as in the rug/pillow but can be a lighter version. If you are going to use purple use the lightest one on the fan deck as purple can really close in on you. I have used yellow many times and I love it as it is a happy color, artwork looks great against it and will not make your room look dated. If you really must paint then choose whatever color you like, then buy the rug that will look nice with it. You might need to change out the pillows with new covers. Pillows for me are an accent rather than a defining element in a room unless the pillow fabric is the inspiration for the room. Would love to see what you choose.

Too many people are recommending to decorate the room around the pillows that came with the furniture. What you need to do is throw them out or put them in your goodwill box and buy good quality pillows. They need to be soft, I recommend down/feather inserts which are very inexpensive at ikea. And a few solids, a few prints, a few different sizes. Preferably with the same fabric front and back.

I totally agree with Laura. I think the reason people are decorating around the pillows is because they are there and trying to use them since they were just bought.

Just bought the rug and a sample of a yellow paint.

    Any thoughts?

yay!!!! yellow!!! It is hard to tell, i am wondering if you need to go two shades lighter. what color is it exactly?

Love your rug, it's gorgeous! - great choice. The yellow paint color looks too bright to me. You made a good choice in getting the rug first in that you can use that to pull the paint color from. There is a muted yellow-gold and it appears a green in the rug, a lighter shade of either of those colors I think would work well as a paint color. I would match the paint color to the rug color.

Kelly what did u think of the rug?
Too bad?! I couldnt find a better one and i needed today so we can finish the room this week to use my hubby's hand lol

I do like the rug, very much- i think it is soft enough and brings in all your colors. I know you are not happy with your tables, but I do like them and i think the yellow really brings the room together.
Great furniture ad pretty rug. Be careful with yellow. Go with what you feel is TOO LIGHT and it will probably work. I would put the sofa on the short wall . It will give a wider look to the room. The loveseat in it's place will give you extra space. Good luck.
@kelly at the beginning i kinda got disappointed when i read a couple of comments that they didn't match, so i wanted the tables out of the room lol but i decided to take only one side table out and now i'm happy with the way is looking so far.. (Just wished the coffee table were smaller, but now there's nothing i can do about it anymore)..
@elementary my mom suggested the change of walls too..
I'm gonna try that and will post pict.

    Thank you all! ;)
I love the rug. Good choice. Your walls would look great with the warm neutral in your carpet. A neutral with the golden yellow undertones. You could add pops of color with pillows, curtains, and accessories. I think the yellow you picked is too bright. This should make your husband happy too. Love all the yellow green accessories that Kelly picked out for you.

Also, I think your tables look fine. They work with the pillows and your rug.
    Like that color Genevieve posted.
    Thank you linlac
That is one of the most gorgeous rugs I've ever seen and it looks fab with your furniture. The yellow swatch on the wall is going to be too bright. Go warm neutral so the rug is the star. Add some green and purple pillows. Go muted on the wall art too.
I just mixed some white with the yellow sample, this is what i got lol

    Not too bad, right?
How about the color on the bottom?

Yes, the softer yellow is much better. i do not like the purple at all.
You rug looks really nice! Once you have the paint color chosen, think about adding height with art on the wall. Take off the pillow covers and make new ones...maybe pull out the yellows in the rug. Also add varying heights with accessories to your table.
I really like the last yellow to the right, it seems the lightest and looks like it would match better with the rug.
Rug and furniture look great! Would go with a very muted light yellow- great job enjoy decorating!!

I went to home depot for the 100th time and bought a new sample...And guess what?

I liked it! I decided to go with it..

This is the color: Baja from Behr.

(It looks darker in the picture, but its a pretty beige/yellow/greenish.

Hi Brzilian Girl, I think that the pale yellow would have been fabulous with your rug and grey couches. I think the Baja color might be too blah. In my opinion I think you have too many neutrals in the room. Go for the yellow.

I like the color Genevieve posted--it goes great with the rug and pillows. Your rug is beautiful, the coffee table doesn't seem too large because you can see through it. I think it still needs a little more punch somewhere. Perhaps art with high contrast elements in it?
    Ok Genevive you won! Lol
Just bought the sample u mentioned and i absolutely LOVED IT! This is our color now! Will post picture once is done!

Now i need help with my kitchen color. Pleaseeeeee ;)

Here is how is looking so far! I'm really happy with the progress. Now i need help with accessories for the tables and arts.

(The cheap lamp in the corner and the tree im not planning on keeping it, lol)
Good job! Consider pulling your chair to the left of the window and angle it toward the corner where the lamp sits. It looks too tight placed against the wall. Also, it's a small detail, but you should turn the lamp shade so that it's square with the table & the corner. The table should be centered in the corner but close (almost touching) the sofa/ LS. I like the sofa on that wall better, too. Window treatments look great!

How about arts for the walls?
I have NO idea how need too be? Colorful or more of a plain art?
Given the colorful rug and the wall color, I would consider going neutral for art as recommended above by groveraxle. I would change to a variety of different pillows, drawing from the rug and whatever art you choose - Pottery Barn and West Elm have lots of choices. Like the changes you've made so far!

The mirror im thinking about something like this one:
Mirrors reflect. Hang a mirror over the loveseat so that the light from the windows will be reflected. Don't put one between the two windows.
