OMG that Jujen hosta is GORGEOUS! Those dark purple flowers are to die for.

I haven't been doing this as long, nor do I have anywhere near as many hostas, as many of the forum members.... but I did pay $25 for Baby Doll a couple of years ago and thought that was a real splurge. I still have it - it's been moved around quite a bit, and is growing, but - I'm not sure it isn't reverting to it's parent Blue Cadet. If that happens, it will have been a very expensive BC, especially as I've paid $6 for each of the three of those I have.

Jujen was likely my most expensive hostas for a while. Bought at a local society auction (Originator's Stock) for maybe $60. Love it (and was a bit disappointed when the identical 'Wave Runner' became somewhat widely available). Then at last year's AHS convention auction, I dropped modest money (for an AHS auction) on a rare plant from Van Wade, 'Tomahawk', that his family had donated. Sentimental value, and for charity.

I paid $300 for Just a Gigolo during the Hosta Library Auction this year. I was subsequently told it had died and settled for Confetti cup.

Dorothy Benedict is valued at $200, but was gifted to me.

My cheapest hosta, just for laughs, was $1 at a hosta farm. No guarantees. It had two leaves for two years and last year and this year three.Haha. Bet nobody can eat that!

Going with garyz6ohio train of thought, mine would be Sheila Macqueen. I've bought it three times at $30.00 a shot and a combined shipping fee of $23.00. That makes it a $113.00 hosta (good thing the DW isn't on this forum). lol

my hosta collection is simple compared to most of you..I did an inventory a few years ago..about 40 varieties 504 plants (more now I'm sure)..I remember the number because it surprised me!..spent $25 for one of my first Krossa Regals..my neighbor told me she paid $100 for Spilt Milk..

$80 for Sally and Bob few years back.

I garden on small suburban plot and tend to like streakers for the beauty ...

have tendency to like less common, obscure, hard to propagate, hard to grow, ruffled, corrugated, center variegated plants. While individual price never went above 80, I have supported lots of nurserymen and women with my hobby.

Nothing really expensive for me. The most I've spent is around $25 for War Paint and also Lakeside Prophecy Fulfilled. I have to work extremely hard to hold myself back from buying the lovely expensive ones!

Cicely, your Gunther looks huge! Your comment reminded me of years ago when my partner and I were sitting outside, admiring my potted BME and we chuckled about the fact that the pot was worth over $300!!!

All of these hostas are beautiful. Like lindalana I am also trying to collect a variety of hostas and I do like variegated leaves.

I won Embroidery on the auction for $135. it has died. I paid $125 for Gunther's Prize from Land of the Giants last year and it turned into Gunther's Rim this year--BUT it was replaced last month and I now have a new Gunther's Prize.
