Hi everyone,

I recently bought a house and need to do something in the back entryway. Right now, as soon as you walk through the back door, you can see right down into the basement. The previous owners had a curtain at the bottom of the stairs, but I am removing that. I want some sort of door or divider before the stairs so you can't see down there at all. The problem, though, is that the ceiling is 11 feet high from the landing floor up to the ceiling. The opening is about 40 inches wide. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can hide the stairs? As you can see from the picture, the landing is really small, so there isn't much room to move in there. The house is an old farmhouse, built in 1928, if that helps at all.
