What would you do to update this fireplace?
I'm looking for suggestions on how we can update our fireplace. I'm not particularly tied to anything about the design. Our home is traditional so we probably wouldn't want something too modern. I am a huge fan of anything craftsman. We are refinishing the ceiling so there will be can lighting and a fan, and we'll put the dentil moulding back up. Ideas?

8 years agoThat brick is so blah! I would paint it white personally. I would say to whitewash it, but I think it would give it a strange pink tint. Paint it white and it will really update the room. Maybe even change out or paint the mantel.

PRO8 years agoI love the detailing on your wood mantel. I say keep it without painting it, but update the brick with either replacing it with a craftsmen tile or painting it white!
