TV stand wall

Ideas and tips welcome!! My Tv Wall is right off of my bedroom door, so I have open wall space only on one side. Otherwise I would of wanted to add a larger piece. The other thing I hate is that the wall has the ledge on the top. It serves no purpose, I lose 2 ft of walking area. Argh! I have a plan for crown molding throughout my common areas. SO MY QUESTION is, 1. should I bite the bullet and knock out this extra wall? Or just live with it, go ahead with the crown molding and if so, 2. Ideas for the TV stand? I feel like it’s not wowing me enough. I still need to find some accessories for it. Keep it and build on what I have or replace it?

So that’s an empty cavity behind the tv wall? Nothing like a closet from the room behind? Or duct runs? Hmmm...If it’s really just empty space, I’d take back the floor space! But how will that work with your existing flooring? Do you have enough extra boards or are you replacing the whole area?

I don’t understand your dilemma. You want to knock out the TV wall? What ledge, all I see is what looks like crown molding or a plate rail? What is taking up the 2’ of walking space - the TV cab? Since TV is wall hung, do you need a TV stand under it? What does floor plan of room look like?

I can see the ledge you are referring to in some pics, but not in the first one. Are you sure of what is behind the walls that caused the ledge to be there to begin with? It seems unlikely that the wall would be built that way without some purpose.

It’s a common design with this builder, saw it in a lot of homes in my neighborhood.

Some people like display vases and plants up there but to me that’s outdated.

Likely there is either duct work or plumbing in the wall. If it bothers you it would be much less expensive to have sheet rock hung and painted to remove the shelf area. I’m not sure why you think it looks dated though.

I don’t know why the builder doesn’t just continue the wall to ceiling but they do the bumpout to make an entrance to the bedroom. I wouldn’t love the ledge but you might Just get it sheetrocked all the way up if it bothers you a lot. Google tv stand or tv credenza look at other options. One that is bigger or warm wood might please you more. You also need different decor to visually “connect” the television up on the wall to the credenza. Take a look at this pic to see what I mean...

Is it possible to go into the space on the bedroom side...extra closet area? I just found a great storage space under my stairs.....sheet rocked it and put left over tile. LOVE it!!
Re: the ledge....either sheet rock to the ceiling, or at the very least, paint it white like the walls so it disappears.
Plant shelves are passé now.

You have broken pretty much every rule I set for TV walls and yet your wall still looks good. I would prefer a longer console, lower TV, and no ladder shelves, but I wouldn't be in a panic to do it since your current arrangement looks fine. The look below is a bit sleeker and more cohesive.
I can't imagine there's nothing in that wall, but if there truly isn't, I'd consider using it for bedroom storage. Looks like your TV room has ample space already.
