I've used a generous entrance hall for book shelves. They add colour and character with a few pieces of pottery and a couple of plants. Two matching lamps add symmetry and softer lighting. A large basket takes care of the inevitable clutter! A bench or a small chair is a useful but ours often has a sleepy cat on it!

Agree with Rosie. There seems to be a large storage cupboard in the foreground, so nothing should be on show. I'd remove the coat hooks as the coats and everything else should be in the coat cupboard. Then have a nice hallway table, couple of drawers or a beautiful bowl for keys etc. On the other side just a vase / artwork?

Lovey entrance by the way. Where you have a sofa, i would change the style of seating. If you want a unique cool look search on ebay for some original cinema/theatre seats usually in Red velvet or Royal Blue and the ones that are joined and the seats pads move up when your not seated, depending on the age they can be wood, there is an amazing pair onebay at the moment parisian ones aged 1930's-40's. If you dont like the original look you can always restore them a little.

On the other side i would then add a console table with a lamp, and hide the coats in a storage cupboard, ( is that a storage cuobourd on the left?).

A lamp will lighten the hallway a little. I would move the clocks to a bigger wall in the house and replace with a mirror a little like the one on the right. Theatrical to match the seats.

Spotlights/halogen lights in each slot shining down on 2 or 3 framed photos or paintings as I think it's quite dark. A nice console with mirror above where coat hooks are.
