Mushroom compost

I live about 5 to 10 minutes from an organic mushroom farm that basically gives their spent mushroom substrate away. They have a loading fee but say you can load it yourself for free. So this sounds like a great deal but I read some things about it containing too many salts and whatnot. anyhow, do you think I could get some and let it sit in my yard from fall until next spring and then use it in the garden?

I read where someone said that the mushroom substrate can be used as a ”brown” in compost but I dont know where I read that anymore. Is that true? If so, it would be good because I don’t have many leaves to use from my yard. Could I mix 2/3 mushroom compost and 1/3 greens/ food waste and let it cook until next spring?
