I get standing water in the spring on one end of my backyard..if you analyze the land there it's easy to see why..it's like a bowl..mine drains away but not always as fast as yours..sometimes it' takes several days..good for the plants but it's messy isn't it?..I had someone from the county look at it..she told me that she's been doing this 30 years..after 2 minutes she said "you're not going to like what I have to say.."...just happy it's not in the house..some hostas (green with cream margins..they were here when I moved in) get flooded..I think they're getting smaller..it's on my to do list to move them..

Everything got a good drink, but wow, that's a lot of water. ....in August! Sure not anything I'm familiar with. Good thing you know it will drain soon enough.

nicholsworth, am I remembering right that your water stays long enough that you get ducks swimming in it?

sandyslopes..yes!..it's not that deep but the ducks love it..

I live in the middle of a small town. No ducks, but plenty of coons, opossums and squirrels.

Wow, that is a lot of water!! I am happy for you that the drought is over and relieved to hear that your "lake" will drain fairly quickly! I enjoyed seeing the layout of your gardens. :-)

There is a gentle rain (hosta-perfect rain;-) falling here right now and it looks like it will continue for awhile, thank goodness. The neighbourhood lawns were totally brown last week and this week everything is green again.

Well its been 24 hours and we 're having a light rain falling now which saves me from getting the hose out to wash the mud off the plants.

I'm in because it's raining here now too..what a difference a day makes!..your hostas should be completely rejuvenated and ready for more heat when it returns..

It would take several days for my yard so we resort to pumping it out.

I normally don't flood much in the Spring but it does take just a tad longer when the ground is saturated.

Now this is a first for me. I think he was a couple of days late to my new lake.

That's so cool. Thanks for posting all of your pics. Interesting to note that here in central Ohio we haven't had a drought. Pretty consistent rain over the last month. I only watered a couple of times (and then it rained the next day). And after the first two weeks of July, its been relatively cool - upper 70s to mid 80s for the most part.

Sounds like great summer weather to have. Gary, are those potted plants waiting to be planted? Looking at other people strategies.

lindalana, some of the potted ones are breeders that makes it easier for me to keep track of them. Others are either waiting for a spot in the garden, or just frankly, they do better in pots than in the garden for me. As always, too many plants not enough room for them.
