The link wouldn't hold so couldn't read the article, but I am confused over all the hoop-la. I thought it was reported here and agreed the interiors, in the BB were not that home. I don't get it.

I'm not sure how to take the restore to 1970s glory comment. From the listing photos the house has clearly never left the 1970s. Do they want to make the interior of the house look like the TV show sets?

The inside is really kind of 1960s regency, so I am thinking they are going to make it look like the millennial version of Brady Bunch 1970: orange, avocado, dull earthtone furniture and textiles.

Are they going to incorporate that horse statue and the ugly lamps?

Whatever they do, however much they paid, this was smart economics for HGTV. The network enjoys one of the most affluent audiences and people who already own a home- 80% of the audience. Better yet? The median age of viewers is 58. BOOM.

A real estate "Field of Dreams" house for the Boomers, plus all others. Nostalgia sells bottoms in seats and a lot of advertising. This will be one for the books.

The interior of that home is NOT what you saw in the Brady Bunch episodes. You briefly saw the exterior in some shots, but the inside is unrecognizable to fans of the show, so it's not like they're going to be renovating Alice's kitchen or Greg's attic bedroom. In that light, I can't imagine many people would care much at all what HGTV does with this place, but what do I know when it comes to why people watch ... Presumably the ridiculous commercials encouraging viewers to tune in to see Tarek and Christina reach all new dramatic highs appeal to the masses, or the network would knock it off with that idiotic scripted nonsense. I also can't take any more of the incessant rerun marathons so I rarely watch the channel (and I do qualify for the median audience, but believe they gear everything towards millennials anyway).

Yes, we can hope they keep the Property Brothers far away from this place. Chip and Joanna should be barred from the premisis as well.

It will probably be a Dream House that more will send in their entries than ever before. Think of the advertising and how many new names that will be on the mailing lists that can be "sold" to all of the companies that contribute to the rebuild. Do not expect it to be the 2019 house because it takes time if they do it correctly. Could be 2020 or a special house.

I agree with Palimsest in that it sounds to me as though HGTV will make the interior look like the TV show interior with orange, gold and green velvet, shag and wallpaper!

As a child of the 70s, I remember brown/gold patterned sofas, Avocado and Harvest Gold in the kitchen, double doors, swag lamps, console TVs and brown paneling being "hot" in my childhood.

Yeah, but that interior house never really existed, whereas this house -- even if it's not the weird staircase and the orange kitchen -- does exist and can be used as a money maker.

But what happens after their "Here's the Story of a House Named Brady" special airs? What happens to the house? And is backing up to a mosquito-haven canal all that it's cracked up to be?

I had to laugh. The cast is going to help restore a house to something it never was. Interesting advertising but can not help but wonder at the difficulty of matching a studio set to a real house.

I was surprised to see that the interior has not been updated after all these years. I vote for sealing it up as a time capsule.

One of the things that has always bugged people is that interior shots have the stairs on the right but exterior shots have the 2nd (1 and 1/2?) floor on the left.
