Have you looked at Room and Board? They have a similar chair and lots of options for upholstery. Both of these come with an ottoman and are less than the Serena and Lily. If you have a store near you, you can sit in the chairs to see how they fit you; buying online can be so tricky.

This may be a little too modern for you, but some great fabric options, too:

The Barton chair from Serena and Lily is only 28”W x 33”D x 33”H overall (means the backrail is lower,still). Is this the size you need and find comfy?

@hollybar - I like the look of the armchair from Serena and Lily, but ideally I'd want something a little larger.

@OlyChick - I like that second option you sent! The first is a little too modern/stiff. I'll check out room and board.

For color, the sofa is medium grey (looks light in the photo) with blue undertones. What color armchairs would work well? Thinking some type of blue, cream or another grey with similar undertones.

have you seen the movie "the break up"? not a great movie... but i always loved how they designed the couples living room. your sofa reminded me of it. they paired a button tufted sofa like yours with a leather sofa. i thought it looked amazing. so thinking along those lines, i think a cool leather chair would be fun and make your space a little more eclectic than midcentury... i'd love to see a leather chesterfield in a dark charcoal leather with your sofa. or if that's to bold, just a leather chair in a dark charcoal leather.

You could also play up the difference between the sofa and chair, by using a chair like this, from Ballard, as long as you keep the colors similar. Remember that in the fifties and sixties, MCM and French Provincial often co-existed in the same living rooms : ) ,

Thanks @Beckysharp! I'm having a hard time visualizing what matching those styles would look like, but glad to know that it has existed before!

Adding another picture as I mapped out where the chair could go. The tape on the ground shows a chair that is 43" wide, so can definitely scale down from there. I keep going back to roll arm chairs, but I just can't decide if it will work for our space. There seems to be differing opinions on mixing and matching sofa arm styles.

I like the way it looks in the below picture, but maybe that's because it's all one color? Our couch is a grey/blue and I'm having so much trouble finding the right hue to match it. As you can see, our couch color changes a lot based on the light.

Could something like this work? or is the double tufting too much?
