Recommendations on the best quality Windows

I currently have Pella windows throughout my 14 year old transitional home and they have been a huge disappointment. In January, an enormous oak tree fell on our home causing major damage to our kitchen and great room therefore making it necessary to replace the windows. I have looked at Weather Shield, Marvin and Pella. I am hoping that if there is a clear winner or another contender, you might share a recommendation with me. (I have read previous reviews of many unhappy customers of Weather Shield, but those seem to be mostly posted more than 8 years ago)

Many thanks in advance.

Are you looking at wood clad or vinyl? What is your climate/location? I replaced my horrible Pella casement windows and sliding glass doors with Marvins - Marvin Ultimates wood-clad but also a Marvin Integrity Wood-Ultrex sliding glass door. Happy with both. The prices of the Ultimates literally took my breath away when I received the quotes, but they are star performers.

The home is in Northern New Jersey. Thank you, Windows on Washington

I currently have the Pella AS Architect Series Clad. I am looking into the Weather Shield Premium Series Aluminum-Clad Wood and Marvin Ultimate Casement Clad...so far, unless anyone has other suggestions.

The Marvin is pretty nice, I’d say no to Weathershield.

I would concur with toddinmn and not use anything Weathershield.

You are married to wood interior I assume? If so, I'd agree with the other pros, Marvin is top notch. The Ultimate and Integrity are both good depending on your needs/budget. Kolbe makes a nice wood windows as well, and there are others. I personally do not love Pella or Weathershield based on past personal experience. Both have arguably put out decent products at one time or another, but neither are on my list of recommendations today.

Ok! Looking into Kolbe and Marvin still on the table. Still listening. Thank you, everyone!

Could toddinmn and millworkman both be a little more specific with regard to current problems encountered with Weather Shield? Thanks.

Well, I just read that big long thread about WS started in 2006, but I would still appreciate more current info, especially from people on here who are clearly in the trade, as I feel you may be more unbiased because it's not your home you are referencing, but rather, your professional experience.

    TIA

For all the experts here... what’s the opinion on Mi Windows? Gathering from their absence among your recommendations I assume no bueno.
The standard windows from my builder are MI. The are built 10 miles from my house. After looking into them and talking to installers we upgraded to Anderson. I looked at a few finished homes with MI and was not impressed with the sliders, the windows seemed fine.

mi is really scraping the bottom of the barrell. Andersen looks nicer for a 10 yr window

Weathershield, fit and finish is lacking, customer service is poor, weak performance, long term quality issues.

Thanks millworkman. We've pretty much decided to go with Marvin, which appears to be the superior product.

Interestingly-all the casement windows in our house are original to the house-38 years old so not really "old", and we are the original owners (but didn't build the house.) They are all Pella and still work pefectly. When we remodeled the bathroom 4 years ago we used Pella again, and have had no problems, but it's only been 4 years . . .

Sorry if this is a hijack OP.
