Great pictures Rhonda! I really love the last shot of it flying away. I found a couple small Monarch cats this morning. They are safe in the cage now. Can't take anymore chances with leaving them out. I just recently discovered porterweed. I will definately be growing the red and purple ones next year. Happy seeing all the colorful activity in your garden.

Very nice Rhonda! I can just imagine what your neighbor was thinking! My neighbor gave me the look a couple of years ago when I told her not to squish or otherwise kill the hornworms on the tomatoes but to call me.

They all thought I was crazy when someone discovered a Cecropia cat on a crab apple at my work, and I had to convince the owner to let me take the feared tree defoliator home. I put it on a little chokeberry and it also made its cocoon on it. I also heard someone gasp and say look at that huge bug, and when I turned and looked, it was a beautiful Polyphemus moth. I put it in a box, drove to the forest preserve, and released it.

Congrats on the giant swallowtail, Rhonda! I'd love to raise some giant cats, haven't done that since last summer.
