how easy to extend LVP when room is expanded ?

Hi-
We are covering over our basement floor with LVP soon. ( 50 year old level concrete floor, 650 square feet are covered with 1970s asbestos tile. No chips or Dings , but covering it so we can have kids exert their wear and tear without worry.)

The question is: how easy is it to extend LVP when you extend the room?

Currently the area we are redoing a 14 x 20 square foot area. In another year we will take down a partition wall and extend that area another 10 feet. I don’t want to wait that long to put down LVP

You will need to purchase sufficient quantity now. When the time comes you will remove the board closest to the wall that was removed as it will have had its edge cut, then just start laying the tile. One more concerned how you are going to make up for the thickness of the current asbestos tile.

Thanks for the response- and you Are right- there is no tile in that area so I guess we will have to do a second underlayment to make up for it. Or whatever else the floor dealers suggest.

And I’m starting to look at marmite I’m tile instead. We don’t have anything but wood, linoleum and concrete in our house, and I’d hate to find out the vinyl affects us after it’s bought.

Anything that is "man made" must have everything purchased all at once. Most man-made floors (factory finished) will have a shelf-life of 18-24 months. That means you will be unable to source the product in a year or two. And even if you do, the dye lot will be different. Or the gloss level will be different, or, or, or....Do yourself a favour and purchase everything all at once...including the 10% overage you will need.
