Design Dilemma Kitchens

painted island with dark cherry cabinets

I have dark cherry wood cabinets with dark quartz countertops. The kitchen is large but I am thinking of having the large island painted and glazed to lighten up the kitchen. Any thoughts or opinions on this idea?

It could be beautiful or it could look awful depending on the color you choose, etc. If it were me, I'd be more inclined to make sure I have lots of good lighting including under cabinet lighting. If the cabinets are quality cabinets, I'd also be more inclined to change out the quartz.

Thank you....did you mean to replace the quartz on the island or all the counter tops?

Apparently paint plus glaze is outdated...unless you love it of course

paint is fine, but skip the glaze -- pick the color you want to start with.

Forget the glaze but honestly we would need to see the kitchen. IMO you either have a different counter on the island or a different color for the island cabinets but not both. The best way to lighten up a space is with good lighting so maybe do that first and then see .

Yes can we see the space so maybe we can offer better solutions. It really is a shame to paint cherry cabinets.
