I've always liked the uniqueness and the overall look of a good flowered Brassia. I mean, just look at that presentation :)

One word of 'warning': These puppies get big, 2+ feet of plant not counting pot and they spread fairly quickly also. Be prepared to divide every couple of years or save a large spot in your grow area.

That’s actually good to hear! I’m moving to a new home next month, and I will have a much, much larger grow space. I’ve always admired those enormous cymbidiums and the like in botanical gardens/flower shows. Hopefully I manage not to kill it before it gets that big!

Side note, when I entered this room this morning the whole space smelled sweet—this orchid is fragrant apparently. Nice surprise! Lol

I have a few brassia's and love to see them bloom. An additive, Magi Cal, changed my brassia's from occasional bloomers to frequent. Harvey, I actually don’t fertilize my plants but it’s definitely something I was looking into trying. I’ve been growing orchids for 2 years now and they’ve done well but I know they can do better, I’ll have to give it a try

I use orchid plus available and home depot, etc. Added is a dash of magiCal, molasses tbl sun/gal, maxi-crop, a game changer look it up, epsom salt every 6 weeks 3/4 Tbs to gal. All every 2 weeks except epsom salt. Orchid plus recommends a teaspoon a week. I use tablespoon every 2 weeks. It was a choice on the label years ago. Melt the molasses in boiling water add ep salt to that when scheduled. Molasses is loaded with a large menu of minerals. Maxi-crop is a Norwegian sea weed that contains naturally humic acid, a root stimulant. This is a game changer. Find it on there internet.

If you want many and frequent flowers of big sizes you need to feed. Your new plant would not give you that bloom unless it was well fed.
