MOD Cabinetry Brand - anyone use it?

Recently moved to the East Bay area in California and found that they everyone is into custom everything. I am looking for a less expensive line of cabinets and not sure if I have found it. Is anyone familiar with the MOD Cabinetry Brand?https://www.modcabinetry.com/ If anyone has suggestions for quality boxes that are not custom, I would appreciate it.

My house is a 1964 mid century modern and I am looking to do an appropriate kitchen and looking for a cabinet line that has quality cases - plywood with a slab door in a walnut or oak that will tie in with the exposed rafters that are in a gray brown family. Although this house is in an expensive neighborhood, I think it doesn't need custom cabinetry as it is a basic uncomplicated kitchen. One wall of cabinets (short wall) and an island that is across from it. I like the existing layout, it flows nicely.

I am at the beginning of the project and will need to find contractors but don't need any real design work. Need to address electrical upgrade, plumbing will stay where it is. I have other issues to address with some questions but finding a good line of cabinets is where I am starting today.

Ok - completed my mission today. Mod cabinetry is looking like between 14-18k and Home Depot came in at 15k. The experience between Ecohome and Home Depot were night and day. We're probably going to pull the trigger with Mod in the next month or so. Mod isn't custom cabinetry, it's still a brand but it looks and feels high quality. We shall see...in the meantime, the folks at Ecohome helped us pull everything together.

We're doing blue marmoleum floors, maple cabinets and quartz countertops. The mosaic tile is my dream backspalsh tile and I'm shopping around for something like this. If nothing else, I highly recommend visiting Ecohome. They were so helpful.

I'm also in the East Bay and also looking at Mod cabinetry. I'm planning on making the rounds today to get quotes at Ecohome, HD, and Lowes. I've also heard good things about Diablo Valley Cabinetry and Hardwood Resource in Martinez. There are many custom cabinet makers in the area. For me price and quality are a balancing act.

Agree that price/quality are a balancing act. I am hopeful I can do without doing custom cabinets. I did work with MOD over the phone and got a quote range that they worked up for me. They did a quick calculation for me based on a simple drawn plan that I did of the kitchen. They calculated 35 linear feet of cabinets based on a range for each of the 8 lines of cabinets. If you want, I would e-mail to you if you message me your e-mail. It gives a range within each of the 8 lines of cabinet depending on extras - glass panels, + drawers - simple, average and extras. It ended up as a price range at lowest (thermofoil) $7800 up to EuroSlab at $26,000. They didn't do a true kitchen plan but would for a fee.

Thanks for your feedback on MOD. I am struggling to find a contractor and if I can't, then I would have to go with a full service firm. I did marmoleum tiles in my last house in the mud room area. We did a two tone checkerboard look which can only be created with the tiles. If I wasn't doing a pattern, I really like the rolls of the marmoleum. With the tiles, you need to have a really good installer. My brother in law/sister did mine but they are meticulous. They do flooring in the NY area though. I may have them come out and do my floor here. Even with that, there were a few edge tiles that popped and they came back and reset them. The tiles are easier to manage to move around but I do like the nearly seamless look of the sheets of the marmoleum. They come in big rolls and are heavy to maneuver.

I just came across this, after looking at cabinets at EcoHomeImprovement in Berkeley. Did anyone end up getting the MOD cabinets? Would love to see pictures of your kitchens!

Hi Beanish - you must also be in the Bay Area if you went to EcoHomeImprovement. If you contact me directly, I will give you the cabinet maker's info - better quality, all custom and they will actually do the installation.
