Countertop idea

Its awesome having a sounding board of thoughts and ideas here and I've been reading for sometime. As I mull around ideas for my kitchen redo, I'm doing quartz countertops for ease of care, but wondering if putting a small piece of granite between the stove and fridge, as a trivet of sorts. Any thoughts on the look, functionality...is this totally crazy?
