Sam thanks so much for that! I could not find one single picture with dark cabinets like mine. All the blues that I like seem to go better with white or lighter kitchens.

definitely not blue. I too think some type of grey or even pale green Here is a kitchen that although it has white cabinets, it still has some darker wood. The wall is a very pale green. It also depends on the type of light you get in your kitchen as to what color your choose.

You may want a visual. I like blue with dark cabinets. Go with what you like. Choose a color that you love. You can accessorize with some warm colors.

@anndee - that is a pic of my actual kitchen. You can see a tad bit of the dark wooden fl on the right side corner. These were the colors I tested flyer going through many shades and then shared with some my friends and they all said that it was too "cool"

I found most photos in Contemporary kitchens. Notice how the room can be warmed up with "hot" accessories. I also see a lot of white on other surfaces.

I recently used Van courtland blue, boothbay gray and Yarmouth blue and I love the way the rooms turned out... The first one has van courtland blue on the accent wall and booth bay gray on the rest, the second is painted in Yarmouth blue. All three of these colors are part of the historical collection. Hope this helped!

Try using bluish-grey paint to accentuate the cabinets and flooring. Many of the ideas presented in the other comments suggest grey tones.

I am tired of grey also. I posted the grey blue examples as one option but I really prefer the teals. The blue grays are on the cold side. The teals are warmer. But if it were me, I would do the unexpected like in "Contemporary Blue Green Kitchen" above. (darker and more retro) with white accents.

We used Sherwin Williams Samovar Silver in our remodel in many rooms and we could not be happier. Maybe you could find a Benjamin Moore color that is similar?

Hi. Instead of a powder blue, try a deeper blue. Check out Kelly Moore's Brookside, Patch of Blue or Bonaventure.

I love contrast pick a white/ light for trim, medium tone for walls and dark for cabinets, it is simple but solid. It will work.

I have a great app that will help you choose the perfect color! IT is called Color911 (Color911com) You can create your own palettes in the app, photograph an image you want to pull colors from, or check out the pre-made color themes. What is great about the themes is that you can visualize colors that all go together. From the themes you accent colors for anything in your home. When you find colors that you like you can take your iPhone or iPad with you to the paint store and they can match the color ( I've done it myself a few times.) I included a screen shot of a theme in the app that I thought would help you. There are many many themes to chose from, this is just one example. I like the van courtland blue too.

Check out Benjamin Moore's Pale Smoke. If it looks blue on a small paint chip, it will be very blue on a wall (learned that one the hard way). If it is in the grey area of the paint chips with a blue undertone, it can look blue on the wall. So when some of the commenters above say to try a grey blue, it's get to something that actually looks like a calming blue on a wall.

I did a kitchen (and then we moved) with dark maple cabinets, white quartz counters, and used Athabasca Blue by Benjamin Moore. It was stunning and I'd do the same combination again. It was nice in bright light and also at night with overhead lighting - it is an elegant, greyish, calm blue somewhat more formal than the turquoise shades. Highly recommend.
