Have you considered painting your walls a pretty white? I find accent walls chop up a space.

Not a fan of "accent walls" - just too HGTV for my taste. How about some furniture or curtains with some color. It looks like everything is either beige or brown.

I have used different colors of paint in the same room in my home, and in my mom’s home. She asked me to paint one of her bedrooms that had an adjoining bathroom. I used a darker intensity from the same paint strip to paint the bathroom to give the illusion that the bathroom was farther away. If you have an entryway that you want to “spotlight,” you could use that as an accent, or a fireplace wall, or some nice feature that you want to showcase. I don’t worry about what is “in” or “out” but do things that my husband and I like—we are the ones who live here, not someone on HGTV.
