Is there enough room for a bigger spiral staircase? I don't blame you for wanting to change the existing "stair". It looks very cool and interesting, but not at all what I'd want anyone using all the time. Good luck!! Hope someone with some architectural or engineering background checks this dilemma out for you :)

You might want to include some measurements too.

At the top, it's 3 ft wall to wall and at the bottom of the ship's ladder it's 44"
