I purchased a few trees from Bob Wells Nursery this year. The first back in June was a 4 way Pluot. It was the thickest trunked tree I'd ever received, at least 2 inch in diameter. I planted it in a raised bed at the existing soil line and since than it's done ok.... not a tune of growth, but some.

Last week I received a new Peach tree from Bob Wells also. This was more of the normal size but I was worried when I couldn't locate the great union. I ended up digging into the soil and it looks like the tree, sitting in the pot for so long, developed a ton of new feeder roots high up above the graft line.

It was pretty easy to clear the soil away and pull those roots down to expose the obvious graft union and Plant a good 2 inches between the soil line and graft.

I'm now wondering if that same happened with the pluot. Maybe I planted it with the graft below the soil and that's why it isn't growing that well. I dug into the soil around the base but I couldn't locate anything. The tree does have a noticeable bend about 5 inches from the soil line. I guess that could be the graft union but it if so it looks very different from my other trees. Could I get some experts opinion on whether or not this is the graft union? I would really appreciate it.

I'm worried I'll have to dig up and replant my tree.
