If your final product is filtered to the point of being a little cloudy, I doubt that the inclusion of worms in the whole apples will affect the cider flavor. I assume you will be making the cider in a device that crushes whole apples. Who will be consuming the cider?

Thx for reply. Apples will be pulped prior to pressing. Consumption is friends and family. I've already discovered that the grinder I have is far to slow and labor intensive. Over the winter I will be developing a motorized one from scratch or possibly retrofitting a motor drive on to one of the commercially available grinders. I'm researching the commercial ones now but I want a unit that will takes even large whole apples and from what I can tell the relatively inexpensive commercial ones (~$200) won't be adequate. I can make something very effective for a lot less than the $1000 commercial grinders would cost me.

Pressing whole or sliced apples would leave many worms intact; the grinding process will incorporate more of the worm into the juice. If given a heads up, friends and family can make their own decisions.
