Well, yes and no.... I guess I had a bird bring me one and plant it.... I took care of it bloomed nicely and the butterflies loved it.... Unfortunately, Irma took it out last year and I did not replace it because I did not know what kind of Senna it was until you posted.... now I will try and replace it if I can find it. If you want something for the Sulfur caterpillars, try popcorn cassia... I have tons of butterflies and the cats love it. It gives lots of volunteers but they are easy enough to pull if you do it when they are little. I normally pull it up and put it in pots. When they get bigger I either find a spot for them, or I share them with butterfly loving friends.

I swear, I replied to this, but it disappeared. I'm going to plant mine somewhere where it won't be a pest. The sulfurs seem to like the native sennas more than my cassia, but we'll see. My cassia bloomed well last year, and at my old house, the butterflies didn't lay eggs until it was in bloom. Caterpillars always ate a lot of the flowers, but that was o.k. They didn't ever lay on the C. alata, only the C. bicapsularis and the sicklepod growing in the swale.
