I don't know about fooling around with a roof after it is finished to fix a minor bump. It should be water tight now but if you open it up, it might not be done as well. I would leave it.

If the two structures are touching each other, a stratigically placed, perhaps even "T" shaped cupola could work.

Alternately, depending upon from which direction the sun shines on the home, you might consider adding a dormer in the garage roof overlooking the house roof and/or build a small attic room where the two roofs meet.

If, however, the two buildings are not connected ... if the garage roof viewed on it's own would be acceptable and the house roof on its own would be acceptable -- the two are just not the level each with the other -- then just don't connect the two roof ridges. Instead, you could go lower and connect the two buildings w/a flat roof breezeway.

Is the item that bothers you the roof vent on the roof ridge?

That's not necessarily what is typically used, but you cannot block it with a cupola.

No it’s not a vent. it is where the house is attached to the garage. The house is a bit higher than the garage so you can see a bit of the roof from this angle, if it makes sense...

That is horrible and it would drive me nuts, and a cupola is wrong for your structure. Plus it is off center. You would need a big cupola to span that. It does look like this area is missing the peak shingles or whatever, maybe he can just rig some more on the peak and bring it all the way to the nipple there for cosmetic purposes? Really, how hard would it have been to make the garage a few inches higher than the house! sorry about your nightmare build – I had a friend who did modular and it went horribly as well

You have large piece of land why on earth did you add this garage to take over the whole house it looks ridiculous attached to what appears to be a small house with no real accent on the entry if that is the front of the house in the pics. I really dislike attached garages that are larger than the house so that is just me. As for the little bump you see it seems normal that that would have happened since you did this as an add on instead of planning it from the beginning. The copula seems to be the best answer now

Ignore it. Or teardown and rebuild it somewhere else.

Thank you greenfish1234. It has been a nightmare from day 1, but we are too far into it to turn back now. Sometimes the toughest lessons are the hardest to learn. I feel like a little more effort could have been made to make it look better - but whats done is done all I’m looking for is suggestions what can be done AFTER the fact to make it look better. I do appreciate your kind response...

To Patricia Colwell....you really aren’t seeing the entire house and it is the angle, but thank you for your opinion. The house is 2040sq ft with a full basement so, I don’t exactly consider that small but okay. The garage is half the size of the house at 1080 sq foot. We love having an attached garage. The house is a modular so it had to be done after the fact, although it was planned from the beginning.

We will be adding a front porch it just all couldn’t happen at once.

taylor g, don't you just love hearing unsolicited criticism when you've been to hell and back!?? Your house will be darling when you get your nipple under some pasties, your porch, and some landscaping. It will take a while but some day you may enjoy your new home SO much that you forget all about the hell part!!! Keep us updated!

I apparently missed the part of my post asking for opinions of the lack of porch, size of my garage, size of my house, etc... I’m truly amazed at the amount of negativity and hate that comes when those are behind a computer screen.

and those who felt the need to critisize.... I’d love to see the palace ya’ll live in... I think the world is a beautiful place because we don’t all LIKE the same things. What a boring world it would be if we did.

HI -- Have a wide Coupella centered above the middle garage door and top with a weather vein . You could get one that represents your family or interests . I would also do the same on the house to balance the look as the house is very plain or add a couple of dormer skylights . Or have a raised sky light in the center of the garage roof . Or get the contractor to double up the whole roof ridge line .

Leave it the way it is and give anyone that mentions anything about it a beer. If they keep mentioning, keep giving them beers until they don't mention it again. You will still have a lot of beer for yourself.
