    Ceiling height?

Jennifer, your room size suggests a 23" chandelier, but your table is large, so you can go a bit larger. If you do a linear chandelier over a 74" table, you could go half the length or so and really make a statement. let's see what we can find that doesn't bust the budget.

Here's how a 36" linear chandelier would look in your room:

    This one is $229.

Grover- could you scale to the table with leaf-- that's her Google pic and I believe OP posted they want to keep leaf in. space looks much better scale with leaf imo.

    And here's a 35" chandelier:

An open cage linear fixture would be great. Keep things open in small room. Here us rough layout with 74” x38” wide table. 18” deep x 48-60” console cabinet. 30” long x 11” deep fixture over table. Drapery panels each end of windows.

Imhofan, I thought the leaf was in. Oops. In that case I made the chandeliers too small. Let me start over.

OK, 35" and 36" chandeliers with leaf in table:

That is SO AMAZING how you guys did that. Table is 74 by 44 (with leaf in) https://www.roomstogo.com/product/Dining-Room-Sets/Cindy-Crawford-Home-Ocean-Grove-White-5-Pc-Dining-Room-w-WhiteChairs/4810631P/

I love the "open cage" rectangular light look. So at minimum 36" wide. @Flomangan, that wall on the left is parallel with the window wall..so 3 walls and no fourth wall but table faces foyer. (small foyer). This is the FIRST thing you see when you walk in the door.

Jennifer--- are you sure the table isn't 84" w/the leaf??? Measure to be sure as that it what link description states... Grover needs to know for right chandelier visual!!

Since you're on a budget, I would prioritize. Bigger chandelier first, then curtains. If you keep the piano, I'd switch the chairs and the bench. That will then make the piano available to actually play.

You could finish the room with a plant and some art.

Can you order 4 more chairs to match your dining set? I wouldn't keep them all at the table at once but I would put one on either side of a buffet and get slipcovers for two to use as host and hostess chairs. Your dining room is not fussy, so I would keep the slipcovers more casual-something like this.

A buffet/server like this is simple and in keeping with the modern farmhouse look you're working on.

I am still thinking that the table would be better turned especially since there are 3 walls and this is view when you enter the room. Of course, the piano has to go. I just seems more inviting than the table across the space. I would try it at least to see how it looks from entry. If you keep the leaf in, then you might consider chairs on the sides only. I just think it would look better. You might even like the piano on the side wall as well? Just giving options.

Here is scale layout. Notice lines of sight from entry. A narrow console table with a chair either side. When you enter foyer your line of sight would be toward the art and arrangement above a glass and metal narrow console table with some accessories. Then as you proceed into foyer you would see the length of the table and if you wish, that wall batten and board.

Flo-- her table is actually 44" (not 38). It may work on paper, but as far as lines of sight, I personally wouldn't want to see all the table and chair legs. Much prefer the back of chair vs open end of table w/32 chair legs :).

Agree Imhofan unless a window seat was created along that side wall with table not centered..than a small serving accent chest off to left side of back wall..with Board and baton as the back wall focal pointe....otherwise side of table with chair backs is best centered..maybe a very slender open bottom long console...if Table is 44” wide a 30” chandelier would be just fine..

Honestly only 1’ difference on wall length will not really be noticeable.

Jennifer. Go with what appeals most to you. Test out both and consider how easy it is for people to get in and out of chairs and your “lines of sight”. You can’t really go wrong. Do you have “sliders”? Makes moving furniture a breeze. Get ones for hard surfaces so they don’t scratch your floors.

Here’s the latest. No piano. 8 chairs. Husband wanted all 8 to match so there’s that. We NEED a new light fixture desperately. But he doesn’t “want anything that looks like it belongs in a church”. Lol.
My style is modern farmhouse-ish and relaxed but crisp. I don’t personally love the paint color and an open to changing it.

Jennifer i know how hard it is to make these decisions and i can understand your feelings having just moved into a smaller home and trying to figure out how i will get all my fav pieces in here! I can say i am grateful that i have gathered mainly smaller scale furniture so it has fit in several different settings. I worry a bit about the scale of that set for the size of your room. It looks too big and rather tight in the room ??? Might be the photo so how does it feel to you? Do you have 3’ space all around between back of chairs and walls? Also having chairs that tight together is very uncomfortable. What do you think?
We haven’t sat yet with 8 people but Husband and I have gone around and tried the different chairs lol. It might be snug but we weren’t too on top of each other. I do have the 36inch in front and back. Side chairs are about 24 inches so those will be tight if someone is a deep sitter. Here’s an updated pic. Thoughts on 6 of these on the back wall? Just don’t know what to put inside them yet..:they’re 18 by 18 ♀️

Jennifer, I agree w/Flo on the scale w/now 8 of same chairs. Frankly, your husband is wrong w/his insistence on all the same and hope he isn't a design teacher :) lol. I see you have tags on chairs, if returnable I would return now and use the bench you first had until you find other.

I think the arched mirror in your FR might have nice impact in either entry over white chest, or perhaps in DR.

As FYI: Round tables work great in rooms that are basically square.

Just for looks ..I would take two chairs away ...and put them in a different space until needed ..perhaps next to a buffet table against the wall ...on each side ? Somehow three chairs on either side ..doesn't look right , until you have the eight people for dinner ....and people are actually sitting down ...?
Find another place for the piano.
Add a rug at least 4' wider and 4' longer than the table top measurement to allow for moving chairs around the table. Add a narrow console cabinet with doors if you need storage.
Art and long draperies will add some style.

There are hundreds of lighting options. Your table and chairs are very casual in style so use caution when selecting fixture. Things with formal drops of crystal or shell might look off with table and chair style. For everyday, definitely don’t need the leaf and all those chairs. Your room isn’t big enough to handle that size. On holidays, fine. No one cares but not a good look for every day. ;)
