like, how much higher? if you do that, are you going to be able to push it back against the wall or will you have a gap in the back? perhaps redoing your window casing so that there is no ledge/sill, would work out better for you? But, if not's the end of the world if you don't.

Thank you so much. These pictures are exactly what my room is like. It would be very similar. The nightstand would not stick out that much the ledge is short. I was more concerned about the height of the nightstand. i didn't know if it would look awkward to have it above the window frame. T

I think roman shades are not the right window covering if the night stands will sit above the window ledge I would do drapes or bottom up blinds but it depends on what will be seen from outside. In the last pic it looks like there is not a big deal with the exterior at all so think about that .

This is a very common window situation, solved just as Beth H. shows in the photos. If you scoot the nightstands an inch or two away from the window ledge, curtains or Roman blinds will clear nicely.
