A sectional won't give you the flexibility of a sofa and chairs. They are only "in" because the stores have so many to sell. Reduce the number of pillows. Reduce the number of accessories. Pare down the number of books. Maybe remove a small table or two. If you have less in the room, it won't look so cluttered. Art on the walls, soft window treatments, but not so much of everything. You can store some stuff and rotate what you display by season or color.

There are many sizes to choose from. I found this one in a soft green color and I think it has some brown in it, so your seating would certainly be beautiful with it. There are many many many area rugs to shop thru online and some well known catalogs are having great sales this weekend, online. Change the rug, and than see what else you can do to make your room have a different ambiance.

I would consider slip covers for the sofas in light color. I would try reversing the long and shorter sofa creating a space for two chairs facing long sofa. Pull long sofa away from wall/windows and put sofa table behind so a lamp or two could add ambient lighting. Once you get the seating right then you can figure out rug and size of rug. The coffee table you have will work between sofa and new chairs. Just getting furniture away from walls will help create better, warmer seating area.

Your upholstered furniture still looks nice. Instead of new seating, I think a better use of your budget is new cream paint on the walls, new rug, new pillows.

The two problems I see in your room are 1) the wall color 2) the sofa color is not repeated elsewhere in the room.

I love that area rug, the green chairs in pic look great, pillows, throws and lamps. Painting needs gold frame and perhaps off white curtains. Take away a some of the other bits and pieces. Just another option

The only tag I would change is the color of the walls ...to WHITE or off white ...! It all looks so dark because of the walls . You do t need to change anything else ..., just a little less clutter ..., less is more .

Agree changing wall color would be huge plus.

Your seating still looks good. Walls are a bit gold and the small flowers are a bit 'sweet' for a living room. If you repaint, add new art, a new area rug and select accessories that are a bit more bold, the room could take on a completely new appearance.

Either of these rugs would work for the room.

Move the chair and a table to the other side of the room to break up the wall of furniture?

I‘d remove the throw pillows, update the lampshades and group the smaller items into a collection on the sofa table as an Attempt at a quick and easy fix.

i am leaving the couches brown. and you wanted green so the rugs will pull that in, you should paint once you decorate.
