Window Treatment Advice, Please!

Hi, we moved into our very open concept Georgian Colonial home two years ago and I’m ready to switch out the drapery In our living room and dining room, which are right across from one another, separated by our foyer. The current drapes are silk, I believe and have a heavy flannel (I believe) lining which makes them more substantial, which I like. Our curtain rods are 2 1/4” and I’m trying to find possible curtain rings that will coordinate. Our house was built in 2002 and I don’t know where the rods are from, but I know that the window treatments are custom. I’m hoping to find rings that will work and then order some drapery that is more neutral, similar in weight, but would like to not
go a full custom route and order on my own, if possible. Our current rod pockets are 4” so, I could do a rod pocket style, again, but can’t find anything that online that offers that size, which is why I thought rings might be easier (if I can find ones that work!!!). Any thoughts??? Thanks so much, I’m advance!

I know you don't want to, but you really need to raise the rods. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the different it will make. I'll see if I can find the source of the hardware and if it's still available. If not, what may work. What color will your new drapes be?

lift the rods to make the room feel taller.

Thanks for the suggestion! My ceilings are super high in all the rooms, except for these two and the kitchen on the main floor, so I don’t think it’s worth raising them, to me. Hoping to find some rings to work with the current rods, though.:) Thx for the suggestion.

Doing a quick search, the closest I could find is from Kirsch's Buckingham collection. Color - Venetion. I'd try and find a drapery workroom in your area. They should have samples of different finishes. I'll check again when I get to work tomorrow.

Those are lovely curtains, very custom with bump interlining. Yes, I would prefer to see the rods at the ceiling, but then you would be replacing the curtains as they would be too short. What you can do is have pencil pleat heading tape sewn on the placket on top, and then use these curtains with rings. Buy the rings from <http://www.antiquedraperyrod.com>; I've bought from them for years - very nice people and great products.

Don't replace these lovely curtains with ready-mades. That fabric is gorgeous and has so many nice colors off or which you can play. If you're determined to replace them, then do raise the rods up to under the molding. It makes a huge difference.

Understand that if you put rings on the rods, the drape top may be below the top of the window trim. Not good - move the rods up. Don't think they need to hug the crown molding but at least split the difference between the bottom of the crown & top of window trim so the top of the drape is centered. Do the MATH.

Not sure what "Georgian Colonial" looks like. Maybe Google "with interior windows" & see what comes up. That's a time & place where shutters were the way to go. Something for you to think about if you'd like a lighter touch. To me, any drapes there just drag the whole "DOWN".

The pix you posted are focused on the drape question. Need to know more. Pix on both sides of the Foyer. A measured FLOOR PLAN. An idea of how you use the space -casual or formal.

Hey There: We don't do drapes but it looks you just have to much fabric on the rods. Put only the fabric on it that you need to cover the windows and you are good to go. The fabric is pretty slick!
