My home is 20 years old and the original stucco is still in *perfect* condition...but it is HIDEOUS, y'all!! It's super rough/bumpy. A couple years ago I had the house painted a new color, hoping that would make it look nicer. Nope! Still ugly.
In my research about covering/changing stucco, every response assumes the stucco is cracked, flaking or otherwise compromised. That is not the case with my home. There is no fear of moisture seeping in, through cracks etc. (not least because I live in the desert near Las Vegas). I'd like to put something over the top of the stucco, but I do not want to have the stucco removed first. I'm open to covering it with Hardie board, shingles, or resurfacing it with a finer, smooth-looking stucco (if that's even a thing)...?
Is there any chance I can cover right over the top of the stucco? If so, what kind of contractor would I look for? If not, why not? Any input on what can be done is appreciated. Thanks!
