Replacing bathtub tile with tub surround

My tiles are popping off of my 1950s ranch house. Has anyone replaced tile around tub with tub surround. Is this a good idea ? Anything to watch out for ?Any particular brand tub surround to recommend That is versatile enough to work with older construction ?

I actually prefer a tub surround to tiles in a bathroom. I have had both. I have tile right now. Tub surrounds in last house, and liked them better. However in your case, you may want to go a bit further and see just why the tiles are popping off. You may have water damage behind those tiles and even possible mold.

Popping tiles are a red flag = moisture behind them. Be prepared to strip down to the studs. As always, proper wall prep is needed no matter what material you choose.
