Are your new machines also going to be front loader? If so, you might consider stacking them to gain some valuable space. You haven't shown us the other side of the room, maybe you have more space than it seems, but to gain some counter space and still keep your sink and have some storage for laundry detergent and baskets etc, I'd consider stacking for sure.

search, 'laundry rooms' or 'laundry room make over'. have no idea what style you like, so rather than posting 10 pics, narrow it down to something you like, then come back and post that if you need help getting to that point.

I would start w/some updated lighting though. as for new cabinets, RTA would be ok in there. look for a stone remnant on craigslist, or a local stone fabricators shop. Determine if you want top or front loading. maybe a drop down ironing board, drying rack, etc.
