My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Is this floor too busy? SPC Flooring

Please HELP! Do you think the grain on these floor planks are too dark and busy? We have an open floorplan so this floor will run throughout the kitchen (white cabinets) diningroom, living area, hallways and bathrooms ( SPC planks). The floor in the picture is not staggered, I just opened a box and placed them all together. You can see our existing laminate floor underneath. Also, we already purchased the floors through our contractor, should I expect to be able to return it? Is a restocking fee customary? TIA for you input!

    If you are asking about "Does it look too busy?" then I'm assuming you are already cringing at your decision. Only you can decide whether or not you can "handle" this floor.


    Your floor will look rustic. The heavy mineral streaks and the knots will ensure you have a country/rustic feel in the home. Right now this is the "trend". If you are going for trendy, then this floor is fine. If you were attempting "timeless classic" then you may have missed the boat.


    Without knowing your style and knowing your tolerance, no one can tell you if your floor is too busy. Personally I LOVE movement. The more the merrier. Character grade hickory or white oak makes me SUPER happy! I LOVE big chunks of colour. It makes my heart sing.


    Which means I'm the LAST person who can tell you if your floor is "too busy". But if you are already asking the question after one box, then I think you may need to ask yourself WHY you are asking the question. What is it inside you that is making you rethink your decision?
